So...Tumblr's kind of imploding now...that's a thing that's happening...

I've actually been looking at starting up an account here for a while now. When I got into fandom I kiiinda just missed that period in time where these journal sites were the main hub, but it's always seemed like the sort of thing that suits the way I do fandom, what with all of my long rambling posts in which I nerd about and overthink the things I like xD (also: threaded comments! 8D) But, I dono, I guess some kind of mental interia or whatever kept me from doing it.

And then all of this stuff that's happening with Tumblr happens. Seems like as good a time as any to try this out, yeah? 

So yeah...umm...hey there! I'm Nessa! I'm a bit of a book nerd, a writer, and someone who likes to pretend that they can art. My main fandoms are Tolkien (especially the Silmarillion) and Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, but pretty much I'm here for anything with a vaugely fantastical bent, deep roots in folklore and/or awesome wordbuilding. Especially with the worldbuilding, I love it when the author leaves us these nooks and crannies to play in as fans, giving just enough juicy hints to speculate about.

Basically, this means I stan for Tinfang, and I will go on forever about my thoughts on The Aurate Magicians if you let me. xD

So umm yeah, that's me. I guess we'll see what happens from here

Oh, wow! I already know more about you than I knew on Tumblr. Great introduction! I loved Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. My main fandom home is also the Silmarillion. I will follow you here and give you access to my posts (a lot of pictures, whining, occasional flurries of intense fandom meta discussions and what I am reading and writing). I may not be that entertaining, but I am definitely friendly and outgoing. Love getting to know people. That has been hard for me on Tumblr.

Oh excellent! Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about it being difficult to get to know people on tumblr. Communication and discussions are...not exactly easy there. And that's...pretty much the exact reason I'm in fandom too? To meet new people and try and make friends? >.< So yeah, I'm actually really excited to try this all out. Hope to talk to you more in the future! :)

Absolutely! When I switched I figured everyone was going to go over to pillowfort and I'd be here with tumbleweed blowing past me, but it's really nice to see so many faces - it makes me feel a bit more hopeful for the continued fandom

Same, really, and it's like, as small a fandom as we are we're a pretty passionate one -- atleast so far as I've seen -- so it's not like I could ever see us ever really...like, dying off ompletely? there'd still be fic to read on A03 and all and fanart to search out, and everything, but at the same time it wouldn't be quite the same without that ability to connect to everyone and just like...*talk* in the same way about the book and make meta and headcanon and everything. So yeah, still being able to connect to everyone is great!
